The Z-Model company is the manufacturer of foundry patterns, moulds for ceramic industry and prototypes for engeniering industry. Moreover we oftenly provide the production of complicated castings for our contractual partners. Thus we are in daily contact with different foundries and their engineers, we know their possibilities, problems and needs. We offer high-quality materials and auxiliary products based on these needs being applied for the most complicated castings.

Exothermic and Insulating Sleeves for Risers

We offer full range of sleeves and risers for steel, iron and non-ferrous castings. The same we offer insulating and exo-insulating hot tops for steel ingots in the highest quality on European markets.

EXO 25B sleeves are characterised by good insulating power, together with a strong exothermic reaction due to the use of metallic aluminium. Prime quality raw materials, like those used for the insulating products, and the vacuum production process give the product an apparent density about 0,5/0,6 gr/cm ³, and a good mechanical resistance. Because of its exothermic characteristic, this kind of sleeve is appropriate for a material with short intervals of solidification: various steel alloys, spheroidal pig iron, ecc. The use of this kind of sleeve enables a marked reduction of the riser volumes, when compared to those in sand and insulating material. The extension factor of the geometric modulus goes from 1.56 for the smallest diametres to 1.42 for the largest ones. The maximum capacity of the volume setting is 45 / 50%.

EXO 26 sleeves are characterised by good insulating power, together with a strong exothermic reaction due to the use of metallic aluminium. Prime quality raw materials, like those used for the insulating products, and the vacuum production process give the product an apparent density of about 0.7/0.8 cm ³, and a good mechanical resistance. Because of its exothermic characteristic, this kind of sleeve is appropriate for materials with short intervals of solidification: various sleel alloys, sheroidal pig iron, ecc. The use of this kind of sleeves permits a marked reduction of the riser volumes, when compared to those in sand and insulating material. The extension factor of geometric modulus goes from 1.64 for the smallest diametres to 1.56 for the largest ones. The maximum capacity of the volume setting is 58 / 63 %.

EXO 30 microsleeves are sleeves that resists compression during the moulding process. It is highly exothermic, with a fast primer and long reaction time. It is specially used for spheroidal graphite cast iron and steel castings. For its high efficiency, it has to be considered with small riser modulus.

ISOL 53 sleeves are characterised by low thermal conductivity and high insulating power, due to the high quality of the raw material and the special vacuum production technique that give the product an apparent density of about 0,3/0,4 gr/cm³. The low density, the high insulation, and the considerable permeability, enable the use of all types of metal, from steel to aluminium, with a marked reduction in the volume of the riser, when compared to those sand. The extension factor of geometric modulus goes from 1.50 for the smallest diameters to 1.30 for the largest ones. The maximum capacity of the volume setting is 32 / 37%.

ISOL 27 and EXO-ISO 20 hot-tops. The use of hot-tops during steel ingot casting was introduced mostly to eliminate the shrinkage cones which forms during the change of steel from liquid to solid state. Later, new pit casting technology, yield optimisation and the need to obtain quality products at a lower cost stimulated research to increase the hot-tops efficiency. Laboratory tests on thermal conductivity of this new kind of hot-top showed that the insulating value is more than double when compared to the commonly used insulating and exothermic hot-tops. This characteristic has permitted a reduction of up to 30% of the hot-top steel weight.
 

Refractory Ceramic Shaped Pieces

  • Ceramic filtration shells are applied for filtration of heavy castings, rolls and ingots up to 20 tons. They can be connected on conventional gating system used in foundries and steel works (e.g. tubes, T-pieces, elbows; stars, channels).  The filtering shells are combined together with square or round ceramic filters (foam, pressed) and it brings the benefits in higher quality and better economy within the casting.
